We at Enos Farms believe that healthier food means healthier people, that you are what you eat.

Our pigs are raised on organic pasture (not certified, but we do not use any pesticides/herbicides/fungicides on our land) and graze on a diet of organic vegetables, acorns, apples, walnuts, hickory nuts, and a local organically-grown mix of peas/oats/corn/soy along with silage (a live fermented food). We are working to eliminate corn and soy completely from our hog’s diet because we believe they are healthiest without those components. These grass-fed animals are producing very rich and satisfying tender meat and the most amazing and tastiest fat we’ve ever seen.

In addition to their unique diet, we are breeding hogs that thrive on a lifestyle of foraging. It’s one thing to purchase heritage-breed pigs and place them on pasture, it’s another to breed for specific genetics which adapt well and thrive in our unique Driftless Region landscape.

*Studies show the nutritional value of pork from pastured pigs is higher than pork from conventionally-raised pigs including less saturated fat, more heart-healthy polyunsaturated fats, lower ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fats—which is shown to reduce the risk of many chronic diseases, along with higher levels of protein and vitamin E.
